Obituary for Rachel Gauvin

RACHEL B. GAUVIN

HAMLIN---Rachel B. Gauvin, 56, died Dec. 23, 2011 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Grand Isle. She was born in Grand Falls, N.B., Canada, Oct. 23, 1955, the daughter of Joseph and Beatrice (Labrecque) Morin. Rachel was educated in local schools and was a 1974 graduate of Van Buren District High School. She had worked as a CNA at Borderview in Van Buren and also worked for many years as a waitress at Robyn’s Restaurant in Van Buren, and was currently employed at Cravings Restaurant in Grand Isle. She was an EMT with the Van Buren Ambulance Service for 20 years, a profession she enjoyed and was passionate about. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 49, the Evangeline Circle, Daughters of Isabella, and the Columbiettes, all of Van Buren. Rachel is survived by her husband Cyr Gauvin of Hamlin; one son, Gilles Gauvin and his wife Pam of Madawaska, one daughter, Gisele St. Peter and her husband Norman of Van Buren; one sister, Pauline Rossignol of Brewer; four grandchildren, Skylah, Ashton, Austin and Tyler. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, from 9 to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, Dec. 28. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Hamlin.
